The MSME Ministry launched SAMARTH, a special entrepreneurship promotion drive for women, on Monday, a day before International Women’s Day.
Speaking on the occasion, Minister for Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises (MSME) Narayan Rane said the MSME sector provides a multitude of opportunities for women.
He emphasised that the MSME Ministry, via its schemes and initiatives, is always working to promote entrepreneurship among women by providing them with a variety of extra advantages.
The drive, according to Rane, would help women become self-sufficient and independent by providing self-employment opportunities.
SAMARTH will give 20% of seats in free skill development programmes organised under the ministry’s skill development plans to aspiring and current women entrepreneurs.
In 2022-23, more than 7,500 women will benefit from this.
Furthermore, under the ministry’s marketing assistance initiatives, 20% of MSME business delegations sent to local and foreign exhibitions would be devoted to women-owned MSMEs.
In 2022-23, women entrepreneurs may get a 20% reduction on the yearly processing cost for commercial programmes run by the National Small Industries Corporation (NSIC).
