A new Bhuvan “Yuktdhara” site has been launched to aid in the planning of new MGNREGA assets based on remote sensing and GIS data. The “Yuktdhara” is a new Geospatial Planning Portal that will serve as a repository for assets (Geotags) created under various national rural development programmes, such as MGNREGA, Integrated Watershed Management Program, Per Drop More Crop, and Rashtriya Krishi Vikas Yojana, among others, as well as field photographs based on remote sensing and geographic information system data. The name is extremely appropriate since the term ‘Yukt’ is derived from the word ‘Yojanam,’ which means planning, and the word ‘Dhara,’ which means to flow.
It is the result of ISRO and the Ministry of Rural Development’s tireless efforts to realise a G2G service for rural planning in support of decentralised decision-making. This portal combines a wide range of thematic layers, multi-temporal high-resolution earth observation data, and analytical tools into one place. Planners will examine past assets under various programmes and use internet tools to help identify future works. The plans will be assessed by relevant State Department officials. As a result, grassroot functionaries will develop Yuktdhara-based plans, which will be checked for relevance and resource allocation by relevant authorities. This would assure plan quality and allow for long-term monitoring of assets produced over time.
