Ayushman Bharat CAPF: 35 lakh central armed police force personnel, families to get healthcare

The Centre has extended the ‘Ayushman Bharat CAPF’ healthcare plan benefits of the central health insurance programme to personnel of all Central Armed Police Forces (CAPFs) throughout India in a progressive manner, according to Union Home Minister Amit Shah.

It was also said that the plan would be ready by the end of December and would benefit 35 lakh CAPF members.

Shah began implementing the plan in stages, beginning with the distribution of health cards to certain NSG troops.

“The Modi government is dedicated to providing healthcare for CAPF soldiers and their families so that they may focus fully on their duty,” he added.

More than 35 lakh beneficiaries across different CAPFs, including serving force personnel and their family members, will get health cards as part of the scheme’s pan-India rollout.

On January 23, Union Home Minister Amit Shah inaugurated the initiative for the first time in Assam. The scheme will cover all officials and serving personnel of the Central Armed Police Forces (CAPF), as well as their families, from seven forces: Assam Rifles, Border Security Force (BSF), Sashastra Seema Bal (SSB), Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF), Central Industrial Security Force (CISF), National Security Guard (NSG), and Indo-Tibetan Border Police (ITBP).

The Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA) had previously set a May deadline for the nationwide rollout of the Ayushman CAPF plan.

To ensure that CAPF recipients get smooth services, MHA has set up adequate measures, including a dedicated toll-free helpline at 14588, an online grievance management system, and a rigorous fraud and abuse detection, prevention, and control system.

Through the Ayushman Bharat PM-JAY IT platform, serving CAPF troops and their families will be able to get cashless healthcare services.

The plan will transition from a paper-based manual method to a paperless service using MHA’s IT platform.

A 24-hour contact centre, an online grievance management system, a fraud and abuse control system, and real-time monitoring dashboards will all be available.

Ayushman CAPF e-cards may be obtained from various military beneficiaries of the plan. This card will be activated using a copy of the service ID and an Aadhaar or other government-issued picture ID at empanelled private hospitals. Using the same papers, you may get an e-card from a Pradhan Mantri Aarogya Mitra (PMAM) stationed in a PM-JAY-approved private hospital.
